The barriers to publishing an opinion used to be high. You needed a platform. An editor. Some institutional credibility or at least a recognizable byline. Opinionated content was a product of distribution scarcity.
Distribution is now infinite and free. Anyone can post. Anyone can publish. Anyone can go live and talk for three hours about why a movie is overrated. And so everyone does.

And the audience has been trained accordingly. People follow accounts for their opinions, not their expertise. The person who is extremely confident about every topic they encounter gets more followers than the person who says "I'm not sure, this is complicated" because uncertainty doesn't perform.
There are also just more topics now. Sports. Gaming. Streaming. Tech. Every niche has its own pundit class, its own discourse, its own drama. You can be a respected voice in the Twitch drama community without knowing anything about anything else. The fragmentation means there's room for a lot of people to be the "hot take guy" in their specific lane.
The sports media explosion is the clearest example. There are more sports opinion shows than anyone could possibly watch. The content is almost entirely reactions and takes. Almost nobody is breaking news. They're just responding to news that already happened with strong opinions and good facial expressions.
Is this bad? It's probably just different. The opinion content that actually cuts through is still good. The best takes are the ones where someone sees something you didn't see and explains it clearly. That still exists.
You just have to wade through a lot of confident people who are wrong first. Welcome to the internet. It was always like this.
